How wide is the skis heel (rear), waist and shovel (front). A narrow waist of 65mm indicate that skis are mostly for riding the pistes, while a ski with a wider waist has a good carrying capacity in the off-piste. Shovel width compared to the waist width determines how easily the ski initiates the turn. The heel is important for the skis properties out of the turn. A wide heel shoots ski stronger out of the turn, and therefore requires a better skier.
